Turning Point: Deciding to start a business of your own

Starting a business is never an easy decision, especially if you are earning from a regular job. It will never come up into your mind, unless certain circumstances push you on the edge of the idea. These might includes, regular income might not be enough nor having a complicated boss is too much to handle.

Another factor that can wakes up your sleeping business soul, is the pressure of going to work 5 days a week, 13 hours a day (inclusive of break times and traffics), and worst is even on typhoons and other natural calamities. These might be the few among many other reasons, why sometimes, it all cross into our mind--why not put a business of my own. Upon realization, you'll then soon be inspired.

Now, second phase of decision making is on sight. It's all about the BIG C- CAPITAL. This is not only about monetary capital. Actually the biggest factor on BIG C is the hidden problem of putting up a business. It is the skills and talent. Most common question is, "What business should I put up to?".

This might take several months to figure out. And mostly, many people fails in this phase. Because those several months take on years and eventually they lost interest. After figuring it all out, you'll soon weigh it again, you will soon doubt your decision - "Will this business worth it?" and then the process will repeat itself...starting from being comfortable with your regular job again until "Will this business worth it?"...the cycle repeats over and over and over again.

Now, let me tell you the turning point of me, deciding to give it up with a big GO on putting up my own business. I am a working mom. The year 2020, hit us so hard that many people can relate to that effect. We are NOT actually prepared for it. We had welcome this year with so much hope but ends up being financially and emotionally broke. The eruption of the famous Taal Volcano in Batangas Province, the earthquakes in Mindanao and now, the global pandemic of COVID-19 is threatening the whole country of its steadiness and resilience in facing an invisible enemy of humanity. Many businesses were forced to temporarily shut down their operations. Schools, churches, malls and parks are closed. Heavy traffic lightened, most likely nothing at all. In just a blink of an eye, the world was struck by a catastrophe that we never foresee to happen. During these times, the constant struggle to stay alive is very dominant. Unemployment due to retrenchment or company bankruptcy widely spread throughout the land.

Sadly, the country’s economy is the first to suffer the blow of this pandemic. The national government, in partnership with private sectors is extending all the assistance that they can provide to every Filipino affected by this crisis. On the lighter note, these difficult times teaches us the value of humility and the ability to care for people who we don’t personally know at all. This brings us back to our core value as a human being-- caring and loving for one another. This is now the HOPE that our country is holding on, the pillar in which we will built our new nation. Although the battle has not yet been ended, slowly people are trying to pick up the pieces of their brokenness. Small businesses are trying to operate on our NEW NORMAL basis. Manufacturing plants are operating on shifting schedules for workers. But, still, the big deal question is….
